Retained Early Reflexes – also known as Primary or Primitive Reflexes

Primary Reflexes were the reason why I trained as a kinesiologist. I had seen the struggles which one of my nephews was having with his Moro Reflex, despite his doing physical exercises to integrate it and other Reflexes every day for months. The Moro Fear Response, or Infant Startle, remained stubbornly active, and nothing seemed to work. As a result, he was finding life uncomfortable and challenging.

I heard about a technique which enabled kinesiologists to identify and integrate Retained Early Reflexes in a single session, plus one follow-up session afterwards. At that stage, this approach was only available to kinesiologists, so I did some intensive training and was able to attend the workshop as a kinesiologist. The sheer volume of information and the impact which Retained Reflexes can have opened my eyes. I also discovered that I felt completely different once my own, unsuspected, Retained Reflexes had been integrated. It also explained so many characteristics, behaviour patterns and missing pieces in helping people to make the changes they wanted to make.

Once I had learned this kinesiology-inspired technique, I used it with my nephew and the Moro Reflex integrated, just like that. I can still remember the excitement and the emotion when all the usual triggers didn’t work, and the Moro-response simply didn’t happen. Apparently, after years of trying to avoid making him jump, the rest of the family spent the whole weekend after his integration session leaping out at him to try to make him jump, as he usually would have done. Without his Moro Reflex in place, he didn’t react. This is why I am so passionate about spreading the word, and making this concept of Primary Reflex Integration available to others. It truly can be life-changing.

Since then, I have used this concept with clients in one to one sessions, and with practitioners during workshops, and the results have been fascinating and dramatic. The changes can be seen in people’s faces, and they feel so different in themselves.

If you want to know more about the technical side of Primary Reflexes, and to read feedback from some of the workshops, read on…..

For those of you interested in the technical language…..

Primary and Early Reflexes are required for our development in the womb, at birth and for up to 2 years after birth. They are automatic stereotyped movements directed from the brain stem to assist survival in the first weeks of life. Once their purpose has been fulfilled, they should make way for the more sophisticated neural structures needed in adult life, just as milk teeth are replaced by adult teeth.

If a person’s Primary Reflexes fail to integrate appropriately, the central nervous system remains immature, and developmental problems are likely to occur. These can be as varied as dyslexia; dyspraxia; disnumeracy; allergies; depression; panic attacks; poor social skills; relationship difficulties; addictive behaviours; speech problems; motion sickness; bed-wetting; poor concentration; M.E.; difficulties with anger management; low self-esteem; and co-ordination problems.

Reflexes can also be ‘triggered’ as an adult in response to trauma or stress. For example, a car accident, a shock, bereavement, or a significant life-change may be the context in which a Reflex becomes a factor once more. ‘Clearing’ or integrating these Reflexes may be done quickly and effectively during a single session using a kinesiology-inspired technique.

I now offer a range of workshops providing detailed information on Retained Reflexes. Originally, these were only available to kinesiologists, but now I offer workshops for EFT practitioners, and mixed groups of  practitioners & therapists from other techniques. These workshops enable practitioners to test for Reflexes which have failed to integrate, and to work quickly and effectively with clients of all ages to integrate the Reflexes in a single session, which then allows neurological development to occur. I now also offer a one day workshop for those who have no practitioner training, but want to understand the impact of Reflexes, and learn a basic ‘first aid’ EFT technique which will enable them to reduce the impact of Retained Reflexes and begin the integration process.

Further details on Primary Reflexes and dates of forthcoming workshops are available on request.

So detailed and thorough. Beyond expectations. Will be a great use in the future. Animated and interesting and engaging presentation. Ability to mix depth with lightness. There is a generosity in your that I deeply appreciate. An amazing holding presence, right from the first moment I felt held, accepted, seen and allowed to be exactly what I am. The combination of receiving healing and giving it worked beautifully, especially because of your presence and holding and authenticity. You are brilliant and I am so glad I met you. Thank you.

This is a fundamentally important body of information delivered in a thorough, pragmatic and brilliant workshop. Sylvia is a fantastic teacher, guide and creates the best space ever!

Joanne

Fundamental healing that everyone needs to know about. Thank you Sylvia for your journey that has led you to share such important work.

A truly memorable day. Thank you so much. The explanations and demonstrations helped us grasp the concept of Primary Reflexes so easily. You gave us the time to practise the techniques until we felt thoroughly confident about helping our own clients immediately. 11/10, if not 12/10!

I really can’t thank you enough for all the fantastic PR day. It was so enjoyable and such an eye-opener to hear the difference that these techniques make to people’s lives. Utterly amazing. Truly inspiring. I have yet to test anybody but I feel quite confident about using the tests and fixes as we had excellent explanations and very useful practice time. I am sending a very favourable report to the questionnaire and have already recommended the course to three fellow kinesiology students…
With very best wishes and I do hope our paths cross again sometime soon.

Thanks for a wonderful day of learning, healing and sharing – I’m looking forward to deepening the work I do with my clients on this next level of Primary Reflexes.

Another fantastic day, thank you! More wonderful material and also so grateful for the session for me and the boys.

I can’t imagine a better or nicer way for learning about this and related subjects. Interesting working with experienced practitioners who have different methods/strands of expertise.

Perfect – just the right amount of practical work and intellectual information – great handouts. I love your flexibility to work with whatever we need in the moment. Lots of humour and sparkle as well as all the depth. This is so useful for me to use on my self and with my clients.

I’ve really enjoyed today and it has reinforced learning from previous courses, as well as learning new skills and techniques. I find this new information so valuable for healing and understanding of myself, my family and clients.
